Where It All Began
I started making jewellery six years ago when my son began school. At first it was just a hobby — something creative to occupy me while I was recovering from several operations. But I quickly fell in love with the process of designing and making. I began by selling pieces to friends and family, and for the first few years my little business was run entirely by word of mouth.
Three years ago, I took the leap and did my first craft fair. I loved it so much I realised jewellery wasn’t just a side project anymore — it was something I wanted to build into a business. That’s how Ozita & Bobcat was born.
“Ozita” is my middle name, given to me by my parents after their years living in Iran. I was nearly born there, but when the Iranian Revolution began in 1979 they had to leave. They still chose a Farsi name for me as a reminder of their happy time there.
“Bobcat” comes from a nickname I gave my son when he was a baby. I can’t explain where it came from, but it suited him perfectly — and it stuck. Combining these two names felt right: a brand rooted in creativity, sustainability, and family.
